A kehila that feels like home

A diverse group of families from all over the world gather in a small bomb-shelter-turned-shul each week. They welcome Shabbos with uplifting tefillos, spirited singing, and meaningful, down-to-earth divrei Torah from the Rav. They catch a good shmooze with like-minded friends after davening.

It’s the kehila that keeps them grounded and growing as they navigate life in the unfamiliar country they now call home.

This is Kehilas Avreichim, providing a support system and community to Anglo families in Har Nof for the past 15 years.

Our Rav

Rav Avigdor Brazil is the guiding force of Kehilas Avreichim, bringing his many years of experience as a mashgiach, maggid shiur, and rosh kollel to our kehila. He is known for his legendary Friday night derashos, his clarity of hashkafa, and the unique personal attention he gives to each member of the kehila. Many alumni remain in close contact with the Rav even years after leaving Har Nof.

Rav Yoel Rabin is the Rosh Chabura of our Shabbos kollel. Members of the shul learn together before shacharis on Shabbos morning and on Shabbos afternoon, with Rav Yoel giving a high-level shiur on the sugya every week.

The Impact

Members of Kehilas Avreichim absorb a sense of responsibility and a desire to do something more for the wider community.

We count amongst our alumni a high percentage of members in communal positions:

Dynamic school and yeshiva rebbeim

Community rabbanim and leaders

Counsellors and therapists

All taking what they have gained in Kehilas Avreichim
and spreading it further.

More than a shul

The Expansion

With our new building progressing, we’re excited to create a hub for our community to thrive, a place to achieve more.

More shiurim and programs with the Rav, in a central location

More space for women to attend tefilas and simchas

More room for our children to daven with us

''I would join your community''

“Baruch Hashem I have my own community. If I didn’t…I would join your community, even though you are not Sefardi! …I bless you that soon we will celebrate together at the Chanukas HaBayis. It will be a great Beit Midrash. Everyone who is a part of it will be part of the Torah, part of the education of the children, and part of the Tefillot. It is the biggest mitzva to be part of it.”
